Spencer house has a welcome letter for the members of Spencer House. Since it’s an image, I can’t paste any text into a convenient blockquote and I’m too lazy to type anything out myself, but you can go and read it — a nice welcome letter, with energy and thought.
Considering the directory, the Spencer officers have been doing some work. I don’t see anything similar for Wood, Dodd, or Currier, but perhaps their web sites are in the works.

Mmm, nice touch with a marketing flair. Someone is already getting ready for a career in marketing or advertising, what with offers of “46% off!” and “amazing events that will be fun, social, and upscale.” (I wonder if any neighborhood will try to differentiate itself from Spencer by offering events that will be “dour, asocial, and downscale….”)

In my day I loved them downscale events!

Are the four houses going to compete in a campus-wide Quidditch tournament also?

I always hated “upscale” as a party descriptor at williams. (the major distinction between “upscale” and “armstrong late night” seemed to be starting earlier in the night and the presence of vodka in addition to the keg.)

Amen, Frank. Downscale was where it was at for us young wippersnappers, too.
I know what my reaction would have been to receiving an announcement of three big formal gala events. Back in the day, “formal” meant that you had to wash your jeans, I guess.
BTW, what about kids who don’t have a spare $75 for buying bracelets? Are they left out of the “upscale” social scene in the new neighborhood system?

BTW, I just returned from a weekend in Billsville. My wife and daughter took the prospective students’ tour and info session with a West Coast cousin who is considering applying.
My wife asked if the students are excited about the new housing system. The student tour guide busted her, saying “you must be an alum; nobody else asks….”
Tour guide (rising junior) said that she was going to study abroad so the housing system didn’t mean much to her. Rising senior at the info session said that seniors don’t really care one way or another.
