Posted at 9:44 amIn this episode of Eph Interviews, I speak with Chet Lasell about Professor Bob Waite, the press hoopla over his fraternity’s decision to admit African-Americans and the joys of sportswriting for The Berkshire Eagle in 1957, a magical autumn for the Williams football team.

One of my favorites in this series. Many thanks to the participants.

Yup. These podcasts are terrific, Chris.
I listened to three of them today, while I was doing some office work. I think your audible enjoyment, especially of the ’58’s, makes them all the more fun.
And to hear about the Civil Rights movement, and Frat life…and then their advice to the new students…illustrates how different some things are and yet, other things, not at all.
Lasell was a fourth generation Eph? That means his great-grandfather was at Williams in…oh…the 1870’s or 1880’s?
Is the old pool named after this family?

Thanks for your kind words, but let’s not forget that Dave Kane was the one who wanted these podcasts, he was the one who contacted me and he and his father set up quite a few of the interviews.
Quite simply, no Dave Kane, no alumni podcasts. Thank you, Dave.

Probably the whole old gym (the wonderful stone pile on the corner).
