Emily Driscoll: Works at Williams College Museum of Art
Posted by lgeorge under Emily Driscoll '05, In Memoriam, Reunion
Posted at 12:52 amFrom May 31 through July 13, WCMA is showing works by the late Emily Driscoll ‘05, an exceptionally talented artist who died last fall. Here is the College’s press release on this well-deserved honor: http://www.wcma.org/press/08/08_Driscoll.shtml
Continued well wishes to her family, including her father Dave Driscoll ‘73 and her partner Walker Waugh ‘02. Emily’s life was short but her accomplishments and impact were disproportionately large. May she rest in peace.
If any of you who are going to reunions, are on campus for the summer, or otherwise happen to be in Williamstown and visit the exhibit, we would be grateful to hear more about it.

Larry,
Are you now an author as well? Oh happy day!
I was thinking of Emily not too long ago, because, if memory serves, her work was scheduled for exhibition in February…in New York or Brooklyn, I believe. I haven’t been able to find a link, but I will keep looking.
In the meanwhile, here is a bit of press, and a sampling of her work can be found at:

(I couldn’t get the link to work. I wish someone would explain that problem to me. Are there sites that block the ability to link?)

Hello There, FM,
Yes, I am an author now, largely so I could make this announcement about Emily’s work. As I understand it, the exhibit is in the Lawrence Hall rotunda. That would be the Lane S. Faison Gallery, I suppose.
I wish it had been up during the term so that more students could have seen it. I hope that the members of the Class of 2008 who knew her somehow found time among all the activities this weekend to drop by. I wish I could see it, and I hope Dave’s (Dave Driscoll’s, that is) classmates will (it will be their 35th reunion).

I know a few families who will be in Williamstown, so I will gladly pass along the information.
Thanks to you, Larry, I made a point of recently visiting the Rotunda and so I can now, easily imagine her lovely work hanging there. And if indeed that is the Faison Gallery…well then…all the more appropriate.
As I try to imagine the mix of emotions that this will bring her friends and family…my thoughts are with them.

Thank you so much for this opportunity to see Emily’s work. I lived with Emily in Rome and remember watching her work on drawings into the late night after the studio closed. She was an incredible artist and human being. I feel so blessed to have had her in my life. Emily’s spirit was pure light and meeting her was like an awakening.
