Today’s New York Times ArtsBeat includes a piece about the Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music. For the first time, the festival features only one composer: Elliott Carter. And, of course, James Levine isn’t there because he had to leave to have kidney surgery.

I remember going to watch CSN there in the 80s. The only time I ever went to Tanglewood. Nice venue.
I ended up in Marblehead until about 5 am, partying with some townies there, who gave me a ride to catch a Cab, except that they dropped me off at the cargo section of Logan… State police picked me up, asked me all kinds of questions. Being innocent, they called me a that cab and sent me on my way.
I never did make it back to Marblehead neither! One of those summer memories… at the time, I was moving furniture and tending bar in Boston.

One of the best classical music festivals takes place in your backyard, and you’ve only ever been to see a washed up hippie band? Come on!
