looks like it is just starting to turn. A little later in the season, and all those colored shirts would have blended in even more. Still, interesting the way the human wave almost blends right into the mountain.

Just curious - how many students actually participate in the Mountain Day activities as opposed to sleeping in and taking a day off?

If by participate, you mean doing anything (climbing, stone hill, stony ledge, I’d guess 1200. If you just mean the Mountain part, I’d guess 600-900.

It’s pretty clear that some of the faculty and staff participate, too.
This is exciting. I would never have predicted that so many students would take part or that they would look forward to it so much or enjoy it so much. Next time any of you other oldsters are talking with current students or young alumni, ask them about Mountain Day. You’re likely to see to see a lot of very warm, fond smiles.
