It feels like almost every statement by colleges has been closely related to &quot;politician speak&quot;, in which important facts are left out for the sole purpose of obfuscation. For example, you don&#039;t here many &quot;concerned anti-smoking&quot; Senators mentioning that Marlboro wrote the new &quot;anti-smoking&quot; bill or that they jokinging call it the &quot;Marlboro Monopoly Act of 2009&quot; on Capitol Hill.

Likewise with the endowment estimates. Do they include private equity? Timberland partnerships? Are the estimates before or after this year&#039;s endowment spending? And, on and on and on. I&#039;m not holding my breath for clarity until the audited financial reports hit late this fall.

Those are going to be very interesting. For example, what are the investment asset allocations now?</description>
