Congrats to Ephs John Christakos, Charles Lazor, and Maurice Blanks for having their Blu Dot furniture line picked up by Urban Outfitters. Their stuff looks pretty cool:

They have a showroom in NYC’s SoHo district (140 Wooster St.), and you can apparently also order through their website:

I’ve been thinking of buying a desk. I might check out their showroom, though it’s a little pricier than what I’m willing to pay right now. I’ll probably end up getting something cheaper from Ikea.

No, go purple. Support your fellow Ephs. It will redound to your great benefit somehow, somewhere. I know you’ll get a lot of pleasure from the Eph connection every time you look at your Blu Dot. Ikea can’t begin to compare.

Yes, good looking, but Ikea is closer. And I have a thing about seeing my furniture before I buy it. Ikea wins.

What if the prices were 75% of those listed and you could return the item for a 10% fee?

An insightful article on American furniture design with a brief mention of BluDot as a successful company that has reached a reasonable size with out being “gobbled up”, appears in this month’s Metropolis

and a back-story on the BluDot line from the same mag in May of this year

Furniture design can knock you out with its’ iconic images. Plus Bertoia chairs are perfect for indulgent cat staff. I hesitate to say ‘owners’.
