- Chad Orzel asks: What’s your favorite of Maxwell’s Equations?
- Amaranta Viera talks about pommes frites and anatomical drawings: “Poor Yorick looks good in pastels.”

- Kim Fassler posts pictures from Hong Kong.
- Matthew Swanson posts pictures from Lake George.
- Dan Blatt: Do “Kiss-Ins” Hinder Social Acceptance of Gay People?
- Derek Catsam: Africa Roundup
- Sam Crane: Confucius in Africa
Some posts and discussions from EphBlog in the last week or two that are worth revisiting:
- Jeff Zeeman provided updates on the arts and football.
- hwc provides some in-depth analysis of accreditation reports and Amherst’s endowment (great follow-up comments too!)
- PTC and others reminisced about Woodstock and provided handy YouTube links.
- David Kaiser on our discussion of his commentary: “Well, you haven’t quite gotten to whether God exists–but in a few days it looks like you all will.” (I’m adding this to the EB Quote Wall)
- The Swamped Fox is plowing right through Infinite Jest.
- Andrew proposed a way to make life easier for current and future Ephs.
- We bid farewell to Fred Stocking ‘36.
- Will Slack provided updates on math-based video comedy and an interesting new off-campus dining scheme.

Nice featur; thanks for compiling it.
David says:
Excellent post. If it is easy to add the class years to these folks in future posts, that would be cool. At some point, I want to figure out a way to let class secretaries, who are often starving for material, know about what their classmates are up to. As long as we have the class years in a post like this, it should be possible to rig something up.

Ronit- it’s great how you take the time to create posts like this. Will you continue to do this fortnightly? monthly?
For those returning from summer vacation it’s really a service.
Also, do you plan to use the arrows to create summaries?
Naturally, I gave this a green arrow.
BUT, for red arrows will there be something like a list of infamous posts/threads?
Ronit says:
I do plan to do posts like this, probably once a week. The last one was on the 11th.
The arrows are experimental, we’ll review in a month or so if they’re worth keeping. In a while, we might add a sidebar widget featuring posts that get a lot of green arrows, or something like that. I want people to use the arrows to quickly provide positive feedback to authors on posts they like and negative feedback on posts they dislike, but I don’t want to turn it into a contest for votes, or discourage anyone from posting.
Parent '12 says:
Ronit- thanks for clarification.
If you want to try to avoid bias, the original post could go up without the author’s name.
Also, as far as rating, the quality of the original post might differ from the quality or direction that the comments take.
For example, of the two recent history posts (referring to David Kaiser) the meat of the second one was better than the first, yet as I recall the original posts were equally fine.
