Kirsten,

This post has been in my mind for quite a while-- partially because I read an earlier MB-related post while looking over a longer article on female identity in Warschau by a (female) artist in the Sunday magazine of Suddeutscher Zeitung, partially because of what it says (unsaid) about female aspirations in the US, partially--

Well, many reasons. I've been trying to think of a way to express my reactions to your comment, without psychologizing Mika, in public forum (much less on ephBlog). I've yet to find a way, a phrasing, to say what I wish, without potentially seeming to say something negative about Mika.

She does seem to be globalizing, generalizing, projecting her experience-- and I hope we might all be sympathetic, empathetic, (the word here, in English, doesn't matter much to me) to the why of that, to the circumstances.

I have a sort of flippant suggestion as well-- the thought has occurred to me, that Mika certainly has the resources, and the werewithal, to move her family to a flat in Warschau, and to rediscover the legacy of the Polish language and culture-- and-- I hardly know if she would be sympathetic to such a suggestion--

well--

Well, at least she's getting attention.... Seriously, she needs to stop generalizing.
