Hall of Fame Eph
Posted by jeffz under Alumni, Athletics, Bicentennial Medals at 12:45 pm
Congrats to Kelli [McDermott] Nayak ‘95 for her induction into the Worcester Public Schools athletic hall of fame. Brain trauma researcher, star athlete, pediatrician, teacher, public servant, and mom of three? Wow. Nayak’s [former] name is still plastered all over the Eph softball record book. Sounds to me like a stellar candidate for a Bicentennial Medal …

Lovely article.
1) I think she has just (?) three kids.
2) Ought to note that she is a Navy doc. Sometimes people use “public servant” much too loosely.
3) You should consider editing this post to include lots of quotes from the article. Very few readers click through.
4) Loved this comment on the article.
When the parents say nice things about you, especially 20 years later, you must have been a good person.

Jeff, thanks for posting this. I agree, Kelli is a stellar candidate for a Bicentennial Medal.

I was in Kelli’s freshman entry and can vouch for her kindness and modesty. It’s nice to see her honored in this way. Aren’t Bicentennial Medals generally for people who are farther along in their careers, though? She’s just a few years out of residency….
jeffz says:
Woops, sorry for my mistake on number of kids. Good catch on that comment DK. Fair point, Crowther. Maybe someone to consider for a few years down the line — although you could argue that she has already achieved exceptional distinction in multitasking :).

Once upon a time multitasking would have been regarded as a vice and called lack of focus.
jeffz says:
In MY day, we didn’t have all this “multitasking.” We would stand all day in one place, doing one thing over and over, and that’s the way it was, and we LIKED it!

You guys are funny. Comments started off nice and quickly moved to sarcastic and hilarious. Got directed here by a Williams friend who thought I might enjoy the banter about me and I have to say it is quite entertaining. Due to my endless days of constantly moving about, never staying in one place and taking on way more than I can chew, I was not privvy to this website until just today. I have enjoyed the last 15 minutes of surfing through, determining how the site works, reading some things here and there. I will be back when my 3 young children are sleeping but I will do so while I am cleaning the kitchen, reading an article about the latest pediatric trends, and making tomorrow’s lunches…standing in one place is overrated, makes your body grow old before your mind is ready to. Forgive me if I ramble but my lack of focus on the tasks at hand make me more wordy at times:-) Keep up the good work and thanks for making me blog worthy and making me laugh at the end of a long day. Happy New Year.

Practice makes perfect; no practice makes intramurals.

@Kelli: Thanks for dropping by! :)
Gabrielle says:
You’ve just been served by Kelli, you surprisingly did not play tennis, too.
I’ve got your back girl, just like back at BHS. ;-)
(I found this site by googling the WPS Hall of Fame, wanted to see who else was in there.)
Look me up sometime.

“You” was supposed to be “who.” I am obviously not a Williams grad and am happy to get back to my bon-bons.
